Book ‘3’ it opens with the Suez Crises and the Liberace libel case against the Daily Mirror… the poet is developing too and his sexual anomalies, his house-breaking skills and street-fighting abilities are exposed; he meets an IRA man who influences him greatly…

There is a vivid portrait of the characters that pervade this small sea-side town as the poet develops into a young man and begins to earn money turnip-docking on local farms, working on the sugar-beet, cement-backing, corn-drying and by poaching…

Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens die and the poet’s step-father, dies also… LSD is taken, and assorted home-brew drugs… his first child is born.

The poet is sentenced for causing an affray to be birched and to go into a detention centre and later participates in an illegal abortion.

It’s the days of Teddy Boys, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the assassination of Kennedy as the poet leaves home to become a stoker on a steam ship and then on to Israel to work on a kibbutz…
